All the ads were found in release packages and are thereby authentical. As BBS's were the main way of communication through the 90s for ALL computer scenes, no matter if demo, hpav or wares, there is an urge to document the way BBS's competed for callers. That is hopefully done by this collection. To protect the sysops of back then, as well as the owners of the same phonenumbers nowadays, all numbers are x'ed out, no matter if the particular BBS was legal or illegal. If a nummer was forgotten to get x'ed out, mind that it MAKES NO SENSE to call this number, all the bbs's are either offline or moved to telnet. The ads are sorted by charset and NOT by operating system, so it might be that you find PC BBS's in the amiga_charset folder and vice versa. The separation of the ads were done only for your comfort, so you need to change the viewing mode only once. The recommended viewer for this collection is ACiDView, which you can find at http://www.thuglife.org/cgi/load/load.cgi?/_thug/apps/avw-600.zip . To view the Amiga charset ads, it is recommended to turn on the "Amiga" mode under the "View" menu. To view the PC charset ads, you can use the default mode. The purpose of this collection is to present a historical epoch and NOT to show something artistic in the first place. There are some beautiful ads, some are butt-ugly, still they're ALL included. Feel free to submit missing bbs ads or just give feedback to dipswitch@kaoz.org or if you see me on IRC. - Dipswitch/DCS^BM PS: Most ads contain PC CR/LF chars, because they were post-edited on a PC, even the Amiga ones. So there might be some problems to view this collection on Amiga machines, but if can be fixed by stripping the CR/LF chars in Cygnus Editor.
